A New Spin on an Old Trick

We seem to have a constant theme during our dinners lately-- we have added barstools to our kitchen furniture, and have been eating at the island and the kids want to constantly turn around and watch TV, and we constantly say-- stop watching tv--

I know you are thinking-- why don't we just turn off the TV-- that would probably be to easy--plus I wouldn't have gotten this great story out of it....

Scene: Payten and Carter eating at the bar, and they were behind me as I was trying to pour drinks etc. Periodically I would turn around and say-- stop watching TV--then the conversation progressed as such

Payten: "Carter you know mommy has eyes in the back of her head, you better not turn around and watch tv."

Me: "I see you - you better turn around and eat."

Carter: "Why I not have eyes in back my head so I watch tv?"

Protecting the"Man Card"

This will be a random blog but it is on my mind and I feel obligated to help my hubby out-- you know help him protect his man card..

I was going through his Ipod the other day -- and I know there are several songs on there that would seem funny for him to have if folks saw them--but they remind him of our dating days-- some of my favorite songs-- and I am okay with that-- most are love songs anyway -- so he can play that off--

But while going through his "GYM" playlist, I was little concerned when I saw "Put your records on" by Corinne Bailey Rae-- Yes one of my favorite songs but I don't know if Joe can get away with it on his "GYM" playlist-- I mean is it me or can you all see Joe lifting weights singing a Liberating Woman's song-- with a chorus like this.....

"Girl, put your records on, tell me your favorite song

You go ahead, let your hair down, Sapphire and faded jeans, I

hope you get your dreams, Just go ahead, let your hair down.

You're gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow."

So Joe-- you know how you tell your buddies -- you just lost your man card?? Okay well I am helping you out here-- before you get caught-- move that song quick... hide it-- I promise I won't tell anyone it was ever there ;)

BTW--I love you :)

Shmecret Shmanguage

Tonight Payten and Aaron talked in a secret language all night-- all of their words started with the "shm" sound. I think it is from one of those shows they watch-- anyway it was a cute little language that (they thought) only they understood.
They had lots of fun in the Shmarage, and in the Shroom, and on the shmean Shmag, and it was real funny when Aaron fell up the steps and said "Shmime Shmokay".
I listened closely to those two though-- they really schmike shmeach schmother, and she kinda shmossed shmim shmaround, and he just shmollowed shmorders. hey this gets a little shmaddictive.

That's Two Brownie Points for Andy Bear--

Little Andy Bear has already learned how to get in good with the parents. See he wants to marry my little Payten and being the mannerly little gentleman that he is--he asked me the other day if he could marry her... The conversation went something like this...

Andy: Mrs. Ash-a-lee, can I marry Payten

Me: Of course Andy I would love that! Oh but I have to ask Mr. Joe first just to make sure

Andy: But I would be a good son

Me: Oh I know you would Andy

What a cutie, and by the way Andy-- Mr. Joe said it would be okay with him too-- but in many many years from now so you just have to be very patient--- oh and one more thing-- we have to convince Payten too-- but don't worry I am sure she will come around --when she starts to like boys you will be first on her list- I just know it :)

By the way Happy Almost 5th Birthday Andy Bear! Hope you have a great day tomorrow.
