The Song Remembers When...

Trisha Yearwood had a great song-- called "The Song Remembers When"--and is all about hearing songs that take you back--- I have put "Our Song" on my blog because everytime I hear it -- I smile-- to explain would take a really long story that still would probably not make sense to the common person-- but that is okay-- it still makes me smile---

When I hear "real" beach music--or Jimmy Buffet--- I always think of my BFF Kristy Cotton-- and it takes me back to summers spent at the beach-- even buying our first Jimmy Buffet tape at Barefoot Landing---

"I Will Survive" reminds me of my college girlfriends-- we even danced and sang it at my wedding--- I remember the DJ turning down Gloria Gaynor while we continued to sing without her--

"Heads Carolina, Tails California" and "Wide Open Spaces" (arm movements and all) remind me of Julie and Steph and Karaoke

"Build Me Up Buttercup" reminds me of my mom-- we sang it to my niece Madison when she was a baby and to Payten when she was a baby--Payten always calls it Mimi's song

And I never hear the song "I Already Do" without thinking of my Joe-- another sweet story that probably only he and I will get-- yet it always gives me a great feeling when I hear it----

What songs take you back? Leave me comments and tell me about it

"Rubber Neckin'" Conspiracy

Every day I travel interstate 485 to work-- a 22 mile drive that on days like today can turn into over an hour drive home due to traffic. And you know the amazing thing of it all-- is that there was only one little fender bender the whole way home today---

It was raining-- and that was bad sign #1 that it was going to be a rough travel day-- I would have been late to pick up the kids-- but thanks to my buddies that always step up-- the kids were picked up with time to spare-- I was tense all the way up through my shoulders by the time I got home---

And as I was stressing about making it home-- I had this thought-- Maybe people have fun just pulling off the side of the road to slow down traffic. Today there were several cars just sitting on the side of the road---and if there is one car sitting on the side of the road-- everyone is "rubber necking" and the car could be perfectly fine just sitting there-- Maybe there is a conspiracy-- a group of people that just decide they are going to park on the side of 485 to hose up traffic... I think one day if I have nothing better to do--I will join the little group--kinda like a science project-- a little test-- I will just pull off to the side of the interstate and see how long traffic backs up just watching me sit there "rubber necking" right back at the passer bys--- -

Okay I feel better now.......

Back by popular demand

Okay -- so I have been away from blogging for a while-- and I would like to say I am back by "popular" demand-- but not sure how popular it really is-- just had a couple of people asking me to get back to blogging-- and I am back-- It has just been busy around the Brown household-- so before I get back to blogging random things-- I will recap the last month---

Soccer practice Monday's and Wednesday's--Games Saturday and sometimes Sundays-- Payten is on the older league now so we actually had to travel to fields across Union County-- it was quite the adventure-- we are finally done-- isn't she cute though?

Swim lessons on Tuesdays--and finally got pictures after almost a year of lessons for both of the kids---

Finally got those Adirondack chairs (for Mother's day) and painted them -- kinda proud of my "Polka dot" creation-- I am not always this crafty---and my mother in law did like them which is a good sign because she is crafty---

Worked on our back yard plants and built a fence-- (okay I can't take credit for building the fence or planting the flowers-- but it did take an entire weekend and I was really tired because I found things that I had to do while Joe and our dads worked- like go to the mall with my mom and get cute clothes for my kids-- )

See our fence and flowers?

See the cute outfits..

Had a cute impromptu GNO (girls night out) with Maci and Payten--

And did a lot of things --that I didn't get pics of-- like a day of shopping for myself for Mother's day-- what a sweet release-- just spend money on yourself-- no kids to slow you down---got a promotion -- (reason I spent the money he he he), traveled a little bit for work--- joined the neighborhood pool and went for the grand opening weekend-- this is our first year joining and I think we are going to like it-- visited Sanford-- for the first time since Christmas--- and for my Grandma's 95th Birthday-- isn't that great!!
And on and on and on-- so as much as I have missed blogging-- I sure have kept busy -- I will do better for my faithful readers-- but hope this gets you caught up
