We made it through another first day of school-- but as you all know-- this one was special-- because it was Carter's first day of Kindergarten (well really his stagger day-- I guess he will have another first day next week).
So--How'd he do? He did great -- left mommy and daddy looking a little nervous-- but I specifically remember the look on Payten's face being much different her first day-- that look like-- what are you doing to me mommy-- and I cried the rest of day
So how did I do? Well I did good-- As soon as he left I had to go talk to the school nurse -- so that helped-- I had to keep my business face on-- then Joe and I had an entire date day-- so that was super nice--
But I must admit-- when it was time for pick up at afterschool-- I got quite teary eyed when he ran from the playground to meet me--He had that sweet smile, and a look of excitement as if he hadn't seen me in 3 days--and I knew then-- that the days of him being that excited to see me are numbered-- especially considering it seemed like just yesterday we were doing this same thing on Payten's first day of school.

Ashley, I thought about you on the first day of school. I was not sure which day it was, but knew it was this week. I cried thinking about you and your reaction. Now, I have to admit making it a "date day" sounds like a wonderful way to handle it. I am so glad that you and Joe had each other on this day and every day. Congratulate Carter for me that his first day of school was such a success. And, thank you, thank you for bringing your blog back to life. I do love reading it. Makes me feel closer to you and your family.
